WHO Call for Innovative Technologies for low-resource settings
30th November 2011
The World Health Organisation launched it’s call for Innovative Health Technologies for low-resource settings 2012 at MEDICA on 16th November 2011.
Medical devices have the potential to save lives. However, too many worldwide suffer because they don’t have access to appropriate health care technology.
The WHO Compendium of innovative health technologies series was initiated to raise awareness on the pressing need for appropriate design solutions and to encourage a dialogue between stakeholders and stimulate further development and technology dissemination. The annual publication serves as a neutral platform to introduce health technologies that have the potential to improve current health outcomes or to offer a solution to an unmet medical need. The Compendium series specifically focuses on innovative technologies that are not yet widely available in under-resourced regions and countries.
The Compendium 2011 can be viewed at: http://whqlibdoc.who.int/hq/2011/WHO_HSS_EHT_DIM_11.02_eng.pdf
