NICE Diagnostics Assessment pilot project
13th April 2010
NICE has been asked by the Department of Health to set up a programme for assessing diagnostic technologies, drawing on NICE‟s experience of evaluating these and other technologies. From 2009 to the end of 2010, NICE is running a pilot in order to develop appropriate methods and processes to form the basis of a substantive Diagnostics Assessment Programme.
Diagnostic technologies falling within the scope of NICE‟s activities are those defined in EU directives 93/42/EEC (concerning medical devices), 98/79/EC (concerning in vitro diagnostic medical devices) and 90/385/EEC (concerning active implantable medical devices), as amended.
