In Memoriam - Dr Jill Sanders

EuroScan members are saddened to hear that Dr. Jill M. Sanders, President and CEO of the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) and former Chair of EuroScan, died peacefully in hospital on February 15th, 2010, following a six month battle with cancer.

Jill was a founder member of the EuroScan collaboration in 1998. At this time early awareness and alert (EAA) activity, or horizon scanning, was a relatively new discipline in the HTA world. CADTH’s experiences and Jill’s input to the collaboration were key to EuroScan’s growth and to the development of methods that could be used by members and promoted to a wider audience. Jill was Chair of EuroScan for 4 years, from January 2004 until December 2007, championing EAA activities at an international level and internally strengthening the collaboration.

Jill will be sadly missed but remembered fondly for her friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic approach; her constructive ways of finding solutions and agreements, and her insight into the field of new and emerging technologies that has been an inspiration to us all.
